My grandmother, Margaret K. Allen, put the nine patch blocks together in the early 1900's, but never pieced them together as a top. I decided to go "old school" and hand piece them together with white muslin. That took me several months and once I was finished I put the top away for awhile and concentrated on my painting. I finally picked it back up in the summer and took it to a friend who showed me how to put the batting and backing on and how to hand quilt it. I've been working on it for a few months and hope to finish it spring or summer of 2013. Once that's done, I'll start another quilt from my paternal grandmother.
